Downtown Wine Dinner

This month's wine dinner is scheduled for Monday, August 10th. All of the food is 100% local! The menu was prepared be chef Michael Patrick and Mac Edwards.

From 6:30 to 7:00 there will be a Mix and Mingle featuring Mississippi Striped Bass and Watermelon Ceviche, Peach Marmelade and Goat Cheese Bruschetta, and Pink Lady Pea Hummus on Herb Flatbread. The mix and mingle will be served with Shone Farm Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River Valley 2008. This Signaterra Sauvignon Blanc is bright and fresh with floral aromatics. It has intense minerality balanced against citrus and stone fruit flavors. Sur lee aging contributes an elegant roundness in the texture while crisp acidity gives the wine a structured clarity.

Heirloom Tomato and Bread Salad accompanied by Bella Luna Vineyard Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley 2008 will be served as first course. Bella Luna Vineyard Pinot Noir is typical of a cool climate pinot, this wine is marked by a balance of bright fruit and a firm backbone. A luscious, substantial pinot noir, the wine has intense red fruit character with spice and earthy tones at the end. Soft, chalky tannins combine with smooth acidity to create a weighty mouthfeel that lingers on your palate.

Second course will be a Mesquite Grilled Skirt Steak in a roasted garlic marinade and a fig/honey balsalmic reduction. Three Blocks Bordeaux Blend, Sonoma Valley 2006 will be served with second course. Three Blocks is made up of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% Merlot. Rich aromas of dark chocolate and cigar give way to layered flavors of currant, plum, and coffee. The wine has firm mid-palate and round, soft tannins.

Dessert will be a Blueberry/Angelfood Cake Stack with white chocolate mousse and fresh whipped cream.
